“Nothing is more real than the masks we make to show each other who we are.” - Christopher Barzak

As a young female, I've been convinced that makeup is your go-to if you want to look better. It hides your imperfections, and makes you have a nicer look. Why would it be wrong to wear makeup? Well, because it hides our natural beauty. This becomes our "mask". We use it to hide our imperfections and disguise ourselves with having a nice even skin tone, bigger eyelashes, and more awake eyes.

I use artwork from Cindy Sherman and Barbara Kruger to show how they comment on what the media makes us believe. Cindy Sherman uses the idea of women with too much makeup on, while Barbara Kruger takes a more bold approach with striking headlines on her pieces.
